Our big trip started with some last minute packing done after we both got off work. Our first flight was on United, leaving from SFO at 10:30pm and arriving in New York at 6:45am. After checking and rechecking packing, we grabbed a quick yellow cab to SFO.
Since we were flying BusinessFirst, we were able to use the premier service check-in. We went through the premier security, which took all of 20 seconds for me using TSA pre-check, and a minute for Danielle on the regular side. Since we still had a couple hours to kill before boarding, we decided to have a relaxing dinner before visiting the united club for a bit. Based on yelp reviews, we decided to eat at Mission Bar and Grill in the new wing of terminal 3. Great views from the restaurant, a great burger for me, and some good kabobs for Danielle.
As we were flying on on of United’s P.S. flights to jfk in businessfirst, we had access to the united club in terminal 3. Nothing to special here, just basic offerings of food/drinks. I had some small snacks and a soda water.
After a couple minutes, it was time to board. Lots of people hanging out at the gate. After a few minutes, we were invited to board(after people with special needs etc.).
A good crew tonight, with pre departure beverages/amenities offered quickly. Unfortunately, due to a small mechanical problem, we had a 15 minute delay(no big deal to us). An overall good flight, we both were able to catch some sleep on the lie-flat seats. The flight left after dinner time, so the meal was a cold chicken breast and veggies “snack”. A glass of OJ and a warm scone for breakfast completed the service. I wouldnt be happy if I had paid the $2200/one way per person the seats were going for, but considering we paid under $350 total + two regional upgrade certificates, we were happy. We arrived on time to jfk, and after catching the subway into the city, we were ready for a day sighseeing in NYC.
stay tuned for our NYC photos & later the “suite life” on Asiana first class jfk-seoul
